This was the original design for my first cement tiles, which sparked my desire to create my own space—and with it, the craftsmanship needed to produce them myself. To that end, I founded the Warssawa studio in 2014.
My latest Warssawa project is inspired by the design culture of pre-war Warsaw. RYBKA is an original interpretation of so-called “gorseciki” — rectangular tiles with a cut-out along the longer edge, which were particularly popular during the interwar period.
I become a member of an International Association of Designers, bringing together award-winning designers, artists, architects, craftsmen, and creators from around the world.
Exhibition opening featuring my works at DONDE Gallery in Praga Południe, Warsaw.
Exhibition at the Fibak Collection Gallery on Krakowskie Przedmieście in Warsaw. My work 005 MEWA — Dark Knight is presented alongside a painting by Stefan Gierowski.
2022 - exhibition "The Polish School of Ceramics" at Desa Unicum. Among the works on display was a relief by the Warssawa studio entitled “006 MEWA – Winter shelter”.
My next relief “004 MEWA” was on display at the ‘Now Contemporary – 21st-Century Art’ auction exhibition, held at the Rempex Auction House on Karowa Street in Warsaw.
2017/2018 — the first Warssawa studio exhibition opening. It was a great honour to welcome Hanna Rechowicz as an unexpected guest. It is the traditional Polish mosaics of the 1960s and 1970s, created by Hanna and Gabriel Rechowicz, that remain a key source of inspiration for my work.
MEWA is awarded the Silver A’Design Award, one of the world’s largest and most prestigious design competitions, held annually in Milan.
The composition 003 MEWA is featured on the cover of the December edition of the Young Art Auction catalogue at DESA Unicum. MEWA is once again recognised not only for its craftsmanship, but also for its artistic value.
I take part in my first international edition of the 100% Design fair, establishing new business connections and sharing my experience. The trip is made possible thanks to the support of Culture.pl and the help I’ve received from people backing my project on PolakPotrafi.pl.
My first relief, ‘001 MEWA’, is featured on the poster for the July edition of the 2016 Young Art Auction at DESA Unicum.
A section of the work appears on the poster promoting the event.
The auction is a complete success – I sell my first piece.
In order to refine the installation process of MEWA, I created my first original installation, composed of 102 pieces. The project was realised in my home. Over time, the completed installation became a site for key experiments, supporting the development of future works.
MEWA becomes part of an exhibition at the Institute of Industrial Design as a finalist in the “Good Design 2016” competition.
24 October 2015 — the studio welcomes numerous guests. It is also exactly one year to the day since the creation of the first, imperfect tile.
Debut at the Targi Rzeczy Ładnych fair in Warsaw. A valuable new experience.
Finalist in the “Wystawiajmy się 2016” competition, supported by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute, which promotes Polish culture abroad. The award included the opportunity to present my work at the 100% Design fair in London.
April 2015 - the MEWA project emerges: a 3D tile with pigment integrated throughout the material. At the same time, based on my own developed formulas, an innovative material was created - concrete ceramics - with unique physical and chemical properties. The image shows the first MEWA prototype.
With only a few prototypes in place, MEWA received a distinction in early July 2015 in the “Young Designers Start” competition organised by ELLE Decoration. As a result, the tile prototypes were exhibited during the Gdynia Design Days festival at the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park.
This recognition — achieved at the stage of just a few prototypes, before a final product was developed — confirmed my belief in the project’s unique potential.
After months of experimentation, the first tangible results began to take shape. A series of uniform tiles was developed, which soon found their way into the first installations.
I completed courses in concrete technology organised by the Cement Producers’ Association in collaboration with the Faculty of Materials Science and Ceramics at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków. I then furthered my knowledge at the Institute of Building Materials and Structures at the Kraków University of Technology, where I gained access to innovative technologies.
My first tile is dated October 24, 2014. Reality turned out to be brutal, but I wasn't going to give up! =)
The photo shows one of many hand-crafted copper stencils used to create colourful patterns on the outer surface of cement tiles. These meticulously crafted stencils turned out to be impractical.
I am designing a mold for the production of cement tiles. After a few months, the mold is ready for use.
